Commonly Asked Questions
- Can I skip the protein powder in this recipe? Absolutely, the use of protein powder in our High Protein Chocolate Chunk Tahini Fudge is semi-optional. While it’s highly recommended for those seeking a little sweetness, extra protein and blood sugar stability, you can still enjoy this fudge without it. The protein powder adds a bit of structure to the fudge so I would recommend added a thickener like a tablespoon of oat flour to help keep this recipe together.
- What type of protein powder should I use? You can use your favorite protein powder for this recipe, whether it’s whey, plant-based, or any other variety you prefer. Choose a protein powder with a flavor that complements chocolate, such as chocolate or vanilla, to enhance the overall taste. Be sure to follow the recommended serving size on the protein powder packaging.
- Can I store the fudge at room temperature? It’s best to store this fudge in the refrigerator to maintain its texture and freshness. Simply place it in an airtight container or wrap it tightly in plastic wrap. Stored properly, it can last for up to one week. If you prefer a firmer texture, you can even store it in the freezer for longer periods.
- Are there any nut-free alternatives for the tahini? Luckily for you, tahini is nut free! Tahini is a delightful spread made from sesame seeds. That being said, if you simply prefer a different flavor, you can replace tahini with sunflower seed butter or a different nut or seed butter of your choice. Keep in mind that this substitution may slightly alter the taste and texture, but it will still be delicious.
- Can I customize the add-ins in this fudge? Absolutely! Feel free to get creative with your add-ins. You can incorporate chopped nuts, dried fruits, shredded coconut, or even a sprinkle of your favorite spices. Experiment to find the combination that suits your taste preferences best.
- How can I adjust the sweetness level of this fudge? Adjusting the sweetness is easy. Simply add a fine powder sweetener like pure stevia to the mix before placing your fudge in the fridge. Keep in mind that the sweetness level may vary depending on the protein powder you use, so start with the recommended amount and adjust from there.
